For the benefit of all of you who are coming here today who haven’t read my main blog (don’t bother clicking the link today; there’s an URL redirect in place; you’ll just end up back here!), I was touched by the e-mail I received from Adopt-A-Cat of Houston in response to my e-mail telling them I was planning to blog to raise money for their organization. The timing couldn’t have been better. Read on:
That sounds like a wonderful idea and I thank you for thinking of us as the organization you’d like to support. We are really in a time of need. The slow down in the economy has caused people to adopt fewer cats and make fewer donations. To make matters worse, [name withheld], the founder and resident of Adopt-A-Cat, fell and broke her hip. During her recovery at a friend’s home, the shelter was burglarized twice (like we have a lot of valuable stuff there!). They stole our computer and let all the cats out. Things are basically back under control, but any help we can get from people like yourself is greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much,
I’m hoping with the pledges I’ve received thus far — and with more to come, hopefully (remember, pledging can continue for 24 hours AFTER the Blogathon ends) — they can start to rebuild what these jackasses (excuse my French) tore down.
