Well, it’s The Day After here. The dust has settled. Since Robert and I have no children, we don’t have to worry about too much devastation in the house. Well, actually, that’s not entirely true. You should SEE the kitchen. Because when I cook up a storm, I literally cook up a STORM. The roast pork with orange/cranberry glaze came out wonderful. So we’re having leftovers today.
I got Robert this telephone system because of its Talking Caller ID feature. This way, he can hear whose calling and decide whether it’s worth getting into the chair for, if he happens not to be up already. It’s got two extra bases so we put another base in the dining room where his computer is set up and one in my office. Plus, those bases can be used as walkie-talkies so we can talk to each other from across the house. How cool is that?
I got a present for myself that I’d been wanting for awhile. A Mouse Pad Caller ID Speaker Phone. It was on the Clearance Shelf at Radio Shack for $19.95 and I just couldn’t leave it there all by itself. (Who could?) I really need hands-free ability while I’m at my computer. Sometimes a chatty friend will call (she knows who she is) and I love gabbing, but it’s nice to be able to keep working too! And I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve had to be on the telephone with Time Warner about the broadband. Either on hold or fiddling and diddling with my router or computer to solve a problem while the tech rep walks me through. I’ve even called my godparents and a friend to check out the speakerphone. Works great!
I also told Robert that once he got really good at online poker, he could have $100 to spend online, not just play money. He’s managed to turn 1,000 play money chips into $10,000. Let’s have that kind of luck IRL, shall we?
My bosses got me the usual collection of dead presidents and the Firm distributed its very generous bonus earlier this month. It’s based on a percentage of one’s annual income and I’m up over ten percent now. Most of it is sitting in the savings account for a downpayment on a house.
I spent most of the day yesterday clearing out clutter in the computer room and blogging. Plus cooking and eating. Robert was glued to the television because there was some sports on TV?! Bah! I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful holiday and here’s wishing you all the best in 2006!.
